Vehicle Description

Beautiful 1926 Model T Ford 2.8 Tourer.

Know as the Tin Lizzie and famously known as Laurel and Hardys car on the big screen.

There were more than 16,000,000 Model T's produced, are were the first cars to be built on a production line.

This lovely automobile is build number 13,441,407 from the original Ford Motor Company factory in Detroit, U.S.A.

First produced in 1909 the Model T initially sold for £430, As manufacturing became more streamlined the cost to buy one reduced, in 1926 these cars were on sale for approximately £120.

Only in 1914 was the famous "any color so long as it is black" policy implemented. Ford suggested the use of black from 1914 to 1926 due to the low cost, durability, and faster drying time of black paint in that era. Other colours were available before 1914 and after 1926.

Cream and Brown Vanadium Steel body, 4 Cylinder 2892cc, 22.4 hp Side valves, Rev limit 1600 rpm, Top speed 55 mph, Flywheel magneto ignition, Crank start and electric start, 2 speed epicyclic gearbox with foot change, Multi disc clutch, Rear wheel and transmission brakes, 30" x 3.5" tyres on non detachable wooden artillery wheels, Brown Leather seats, Gas lamps, Electric headlamps, Brass horn, Electric horn, Wind-up Gramophone, Picnic basket, Petrol canister, White canvas hood, Spare wheel, Wicker tool box, Petrol dipstick, Owners manual.

This Chassis number 13441407 was built on 1st February 1926 and we have been told it was originally used by the American Government in South Dakota until it was sold to a Commissioner R.Revert of NYe County, Nevada, U.S.A. in 1930. The total lack of rust on the car is due to the climate in Nevada, very hot with very little rain.

The car American Licence plate number was 004 JYN, and was last used in America in 1982 when it took part in an Election Parade. It then sat in a workshop for 19 year before making its way to the UK in 2001. We have copies of an American Certificate of Vehicle Title, and the invoice for shipping from Beatty, Nevada to the U.K. The car was registered in the U.K. on Registration number SV 9181 in 2002. Being over the 40 year threshold, the car is Tax and MOT exempt although it did have an MOT in 2009 and passed with flying colours.

Lovingly restored in 2002 by the importer/owner, who has loved it for the past 17 years, it has been used occasionally as a wedding car, been a trophy winner in numerous shows that it has attended and completed the London to Brighton Classic car run in 2010.

Always starts first time and drives well (after a bit of practice).

92 years old and STILL in beautiful condition. Your chance to own a part of history!

We are able to arrange Classic car finance on this vehicle!
